To increase the familiarization with the START triage system and tags within the region, all pre-hospital and hospital providers will begin a program called Triage Tuesday. Each Tuesday the triage tags shall be used on all calls, both medical and trauma.
Document appropriately on the triage tags. On the patient care record (PCR) document in the comments section that the tag was used, tag number and the patient’s color triage classification.
The crew to make initial patient contact shall triage the patient and apply the tag. The initial crew keeps one side of the tag just as the Triage Officer would. The senior medical person from the transporting crew shall take the other side of the tag as the Transport Officer would. The body of the triage tag stays with the patient in ER.
Triage tags can be ordered through the RAC.
